Alex Hunter Safaris is a small and friendly specialist safari company offering unique and timeless experiences across the African continent and East Africa in particular.

 

Grandson to the legendary J.A. Hunter, and renowned in Africa as one of Kenya’s most respected safari guides, Alex aims to draw you back to an unspoilt bygone era, as well as steering you off the beaten track to experience new and unique aspects of a true safari. Using three decades of insider knowledge to unlock the secrets of the wilderness, Alex aspires to provide the same simple comforts taken from his grandfather's safaris  in the 1920s, where days turned into weeks and weeks into months, exploring nature at its best.

 

 Alex is driven by a passion for conserving Africa's wildlife and its remaining  wilderness areas. This is why many of his safaris and expeditions have a strong conservation ethos and aim to incorporate opportunities to take part in some of the most exciting and exclusive wildlife conservation programmes within Kenya.

 

Come face-to-face with Tsavo’s last handful of ‘Big Tuskers’; follow Alex down the elephant paths of northern Kenya to watch thousands of sandgrouse flying in to drink in the Sera Rhino Conservancy; meet the lion guardians entrusted with the task of protecting the few remaining prides of Chyulu Hills, or climb Ol Donyo Lengai, the sacred mountain of the Maasai in Northern Tanzania.
